I WISH THE BLOGGER HAD TRIED TO GIVE SOME CONCRETE POINTS TO HOLD ON TO. INSTEAD HE HAS LATCHED ON TO SOME OF HIS OWN SEMI SOPHISTICATED VIEWPOINTS GIVING THEM A FLIMSY CLOAK OF HISTORY. Anvar Alikhan says: May 8, 2015 at 1:10 pm Hi Roderick Someone forwarded to me your comments on the counterfactual I’d written on What if Netaji had indeed returned to India? Just wanted to say thanks for the kind words. I find it sad that Nehru seems to be so reviled today, by a generation who knows nothing about him. (As you say, one of the reasons is that many of the sins of the daughter have somehow gotten attached to the father.) If it had been any of today’s heroes who had been the first PM instead of him ~ Patel, Bose, whoever ~ I don’t like to think of what would have happened to the country Regards, rm says: May 10, 2015 at 11:54 am Hello Anvar, not at all – thank you for acknowledging me. I really enjoyed what you wrote. In addition to being well written, it seemed temperate and humorous in a way many articles do not. In my opinion, challenging partisan and fantastical versions of history is work that should always be praised. Meera nanda says: September 10, 2016 at 4:18 am Hello: I have enjoyed your writings. I thought i’d share an essay of mine that i wrote for the Frontline magazine. It is my attempt to detox Indocentric history of science. http://www.frontline.in/science-and-technology/hindutvas-science-envy/article9049883.ece‘ meera nanda Bipinchandra says: May 28, 2017 at 3:35 pm Please comment on following whatsapp message: Very very important information, do read complete article and verify the correctness of this article. ध्यान से rm says: May 29, 2017 at 9:12 am Sorry – I think that’s all nonsense. Richard Womble says: December 18, 2017 at 7:34 pm Greetings history detox! I love your website name & concept! I am thrilled to find your article addressing secret British / Churchill plan to partition India. I have see the recent movie “The Viceroy’s House” and wanted to research the proposition. Your article 10.3 Partition and Conspiracy: Churchill” is very helpful. In this article, you reference: “Churchill’s passionate speech in the House of Commons, on 6 March 1946.” In my efforts to find and read this speech, I seem to find that Churchill was in Fulton Missouri on 5 March 1946 giving his famous “Sinews of Peace / Iron Curtain” speech. It seems doubtful to me that he made it all the way to London and was giving a speech in the House of Commons by the next day. But I suppose it might just be possible. I was unable to find a text of the 6 March 1946 speech you reference, but then I did not spend a huge amount of time looking, either. Can you clarify, please? Thanks, yours, Richard Womble Richard Womble says: December 19, 2017 at 1:12 am I stumbled on the answer to my concern. Mr. Churchill’s speech to which you refer was given March 6, 1947, rather than 1946, if I am correct. I’m surprised I couldn’t guess at the answer earlier. That totally makes sense given the parliamentary agendas of 1946 vs. 1947. At least I think it does; I’m not an expert. Happy Holidays & good day to you! WV says: April 10, 2018 at 7:04 pm RM: stumbled on your site a few days ago; what a fantastic resource + much food for thought. But notice your last posts were in December and then silence… I think you were headed to Bangladesh then; are you now based there?!. Hope you will continue to post – and many thanks for all that is here already. WV (London W10) rm says: April 14, 2018 at 6:10 am Hello WV. Thank you for kind words. Yes, a bit quiet, I write for Open magazine and that takes up much of my energy. I am also working on a new book – literally just back from Delhi late yesterday – and that has taken up a lot of the rest. But I will be putting some new stuff up soon. Astitwa says: August 27, 2018 at 11:02 am Hi, thank you for what u r doing. Just a question this time: when you emphatically detoxed Hindu claims of ruling the world for so long, have you tried looking at the rhetoric of Zionism that has killed thousands of Palestinians out of thin air? would like to know your unbiased views on this, although as a questioner i might have put my bias on this. thanks heaps! rm says: August 27, 2018 at 3:14 pm Hello Astitwa, I am not sure quite what you mean. I don’t think ‘Zionist rhetoric’ has killed anybody. Zionists have. I avoid the topic generally, as I am neither Jewish, nor Israeli nor Palestinian and the whole thing is such a terrible mess, compounded by poor leadership on both sides. Anyone who claims to ‘own’ or have a right to rule the whole world will always get a negative reaction from me.
